US President Donald Trump said that the US Central Command carried out one of the most powerful bombing operations in the history of the Middle East.

According to him, all military targets on Kharg Island in the Persian Gulf were destroyed. The island is a strategic port through which up to 90% of Iran’s petroleum exports pass.

“Our weapons are the most powerful and sophisticated the world has ever known. However, out of decency I decided not to destroy the oil infrastructure on the island. But if Iran or anyone else attempts to obstruct the free and safe passage of ships through the Strait of Hormuz, I will immediately reconsider that decision,” Trump said.

He added that Iran is not capable of defending the targets that could be attacked.

“Iran cannot protect what we want to strike — they can do nothing about it. Iran will never have nuclear weapons and will not be able to threaten the United States, the Middle East, or the world,” he said.
