"Violence against young children is completely intolerable, and punishment must be inevitable and uncompromising. The President of Uzbekistan has signed a law providing for amendments to 5 codes and 6 laws at once.
Everyone who abuses a child, inflicting physical or mental suffering upon them — whether they are an employee of an educational institution or a close relative — will be held accountable. The punishment given for crimes resulting in the death of a child will by no means be mitigated.
From now on, persons who commit sexual violence against a child under the age of 14 will face up to 25 years of imprisonment or life imprisonment. There will be no limitation period for being held accountable for such grave crimes.
The safety of a young child cannot depend on conditions or circumstances. Anyone who violates the life, health, or dignity of children must know that they cannot escape strict punishment", wrote Saida Mirziyoyeva, Head of the Administration of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, on her Telegram channel.
