The new road is expected to reduce travel time between the two cities from 5 hours to 1.5 hours.

A modern toll road with a cement-concrete pavement and a new railway line for high-speed trains will be built between the cities of Samarkand and Bukhara. This was announced on November 4 at a meeting in the Bukhara region chaired by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

As a result of the implementation of the project, travel time by car between the two cities is expected to be reduced from the current 5 hours to 1.5 hours. It is also planned to establish a separate railway network for high-speed train traffic.

As part of improving the transport infrastructure of the Bukhara region, reconstruction work on the A-380 highway will be completed this year. Starting next year, the renovation of the 69-kilometer section of the M-37 highway passing through the region will begin.

Within the framework of the project worth 200 million dollars, a new 4.5-kilometer bypass road will also be built around the city of Bukhara.

The Head of State gave instructions to officials to fully finalize the master plans for the road and railway projects and to start negotiations with international partners.

For reference, in accordance with the Presidential decree adopted on August 30, 2024, the construction of a toll road between the cities of Samarkand and Bukhara is scheduled for 2027–2030. The project, with an initial estimated value of 1 billion dollars, is planned to pass through the territories of Samarkand, Navoi, and Bukhara regions.
