Charity and donations during Ramadan are considered among the most virtuous acts. However, in recent years, there has been a growing number of cases where such initiatives are used for illegal purposes.

Experts warn that under the guise of “charity,” funds collected online may in some cases be directed toward financing terrorist organizations.

For example, in 2025, an Uzbek citizen was arrested in South Korea for collecting over 952 million won through a fake charity scheme, part of which was allegedly transferred to international terrorist groups.

Additionally, a case in Uzbekistan’s Bukhara region revealed a scheme related to terrorism financing, where a suspect collected money online and redirected it to extremist activities.

Authorities note that some individuals unknowingly became involved in these illegal activities.

Experts strongly recommend verifying sources before making donations and using only official and transparent charity organizations to ensure funds reach those truly in need.
