Today, in implementing the priority tasks set by the Head of State to create a safe environment in the country, reduce offenses, and strengthen public order, the issues of strengthening state control over the circulation of firearms and their ammunition implemented by law enforcement agencies are of significant importance.
Under the coordination of the Agency for Drug and Firearm Control under the President Administration, the robust interagency cooperation established between the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the State Customs Committee, the General Prosecutor's Office, and other authorized state agencies, as well as large-scale awareness-raising work carried out among the population, are yielding results in preventing violations of the law in this area and promptly eliminating identified ones.
In particular, as a result of operational-search and preventive measures carried out by internal affairs bodies, a total of 207 cases related to the circulation of firearms have been detected since the beginning of the current year.
When analyzed by regions, the highest number of cases was recorded in the Republic of Karakalpakstan — 28, Tashkent city — 24, as well as Bukhara and Kashkadarya regions — 21 each. The lowest figures correspond to Namangan — 5, Andijan — 7, and Syrdarya regions — 9.
While 87 of the weapons were discovered by law enforcement agencies as a result of operational measures, another 120 were voluntarily surrendered by citizens as a result of awareness-raising efforts. This, in turn, indicates the growing legal consciousness and responsibility of the population.
Furthermore, during the operations, 242 pneumatic weapons and 5,271 pieces of ammunition were detected. All identified items were documented in accordance with the requirements of current legislation.
Moreover, as a result of operational measures, control inspections, and preventive measures carried out by customs authorities over the past period of this year, a total of 28 law violation cases were detected.
During the inspections conducted regarding these cases, 18 illegal pneumatic and bladed weapons, 98 bullets, 114 cartridge cases, and 1 kilogram 270 grams of explosives were intercepted.
These indicators once again confirm the consistency and effectiveness of the work being carried out to strengthen state control over the circulation of weapons in our country, ensure public safety, and eliminate illegal trafficking.
