As a result of strategic reforms and major investment projects implemented in recent years, the number of hydropower plants in the country has grown from 36 to 106, and total capacity has reached 2.5 GW. International experience is being effectively used to expand the network of small and micro HPPs and introduce advanced solutions.
During the working visit, delegation members studied the design, manufacture, and testing of innovative hydro units intended for the efficient use of low-pressure water flows. An important advantage of Korean experience is that equipment undergoes full testing at the production stage, with technical parameters monitored. This approach is of significant practical importance for the manufacture and localization of hydropower equipment in Uzbekistan.
The representatives also visited the Baekjebo hydraulic complex on the Geum River. Four hydro units with a total capacity of 2.64 MW are successfully operating at this facility, commissioned in 2011.
For reference, Kumsung E&C Co., LTD., founded in 1982, specializes in manufacturing equipment for small and micro HPPs, automatic gates for water supply and irrigation systems, pumping stations, and special steel structures.
