Industrial enterprise in Bekabad fined more than 1.5 billion sums

During inspections conducted by the environmental police of the National Committee for Ecology and Climate Change, it was revealed that the "M.K." enterprise in the city of Bekabad had been polluting the air and was subjected to a fine of over 1 billion 630 million sums.

The inspections found that emissions released into the atmosphere from two divisions of the enterprise exceeded established norms. Laboratory analyses confirmed that in the electric steel melting division, inorganic dust exceeded the norm by 2.4 times, sulfur dioxide by 1,533 times, and carbon dioxide by 20 times.

At the same time, it was found that the dust and gas cleaning equipment was not operating efficiently, resulting in a portion of pollutants escaping directly into the atmosphere. In the ferroalloy production division, the amount of inorganic dust was found to be 24.9 times higher than the established norm, nitrogen dioxide 2.12 times higher, and carbon monoxide 23.3 times higher.

Based on legislative requirements for environmental pollution, additional calculations were made for the enterprise, and a compensation payment of 1 billion 630 million 419 sums was established.

Additionally, the enterprise was assigned obligations such as completely replacing the filters of dust and gas cleaning equipment, increasing their efficiency to at least 95 percent, strengthening laboratory control, and installing automatic monitoring stations at the main pollution sources.
