The Ministry of Sports submitted a draft regulation on the procedure for holding the "10 thousand steps on foot" campaign for public discussion. According to the draft, active participants who take the most steps over the course of a year may be rewarded with valuable gifts.
Citizens of Uzbekistan who have reached the age of 18 are expected to participate in the campaign. To win a prize, a participant must be one of those who took the most steps on the territory of Uzbekistan during the year and walk at least 10 thousand steps every day.
The campaign is organized through a special digital platform consisting of a mobile application and a web portal. The number of participants' steps is planned to be monitored by the National Committee of Ecology and Climate Change.
If the results are unusually high, signs of using artificial intelligence or automated programs are detected, complaints are received from other participants, or technical malfunctions occur, the indicators may be rechecked.
The draft regulation will be under public discussion until November 13. The "10 thousand steps on foot" platform was initially launched in June 2021, and in April 2022, the procedure for encouraging citizens for steps taken was canceled.
Plans to restore the initiative were announced on March 23, 2026, during the presentation of nationwide projects in the field of ecology and environmental protection for 2026–2030.
