Did 'Real Sanjik' fall victim to someone else's mistake?

Today, September 14, the next court review was held at the appellate instance court in the case of Sanjar Karimov. The defense lawyers of 'Real Sanjik' presented a transcript (recorded audio) brought from the United States, an EFFECT.UZ journalist reported.

The trial began with the examination of additional evidence. A special IT expert was also engaged for this hearing. During the listening of the audio recording dated November 23, 2025, a conversation between defendant Sanjar Karimov and victim Feruza Rakhmatullayeva was heard.

According to the audio recording, it was not Sanjar Karimov who threatened Feruza Rakhmatullayeva, but his family friend Sanjar Alimov — and when Rakhmatullayeva spoke about it, the general public mistook Sanjar Alimov for Sanjar Karimov.

During the trial, Feruza Rakhmatullayeva was also heard. She stated that the facts cited in the transcript were false and that she had spoken well of Karimov only under pressure.

Who is Sanjar Alimov?

According to information received by the editorial office, a close acquaintance and sworn brother of Shakhzod Rismatov — Sanjar Alimov Sadikzhonovich — is a retired officer of the internal affairs bodies. In 2023, he served as a senior operative for particularly important cases in the department for combating corruption and economic crimes of the crime detection units of the Criminal Investigation Department of the Tashkent City Rapid Search Service, holding the rank of lieutenant colonel. He is now retired. This former internal affairs officer is also expected to be summoned to the next court hearing.

How did it happen?

Entrepreneur and blogger known as 'Sanjik,' Sanjar Karimov, was found guilty in May of this year by a verdict of the Mirzo Ulugbek District Criminal Court of acts stipulated in Part 1 of Article 112 (threat of murder or use of violence), Clause 'a' of Part 4 of Article 168 (fraud), and Part 2 of Article 273 (crimes related to the illegal manufacture, acquisition, storage, and transfer of narcotic drugs or psychotropic substances) of the Criminal Code, and sentenced to 5 years of imprisonment.

Based on the appeal filed against this verdict, on June 29 of this year the Tashkent City Criminal Court began appellate proceedings in the criminal case of Sanjar Karimov. Ten lawyers have taken up Karimov's defense in this trial. The hearing is being conducted by presiding judge Abdullajon Mukhiddinov, reporting judge Umidbek Musaev, and judicial panel member Anvar Dusmurodov.

The judicial panel chaired by Judge Abdullajon Mukhiddinov postponed the next court hearing to September 18 of this year. Follow the details of 'Real Sanjik's' trials on EFFECT.UZ.
