In order to ensure the execution of the tasks given during the visit of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Surkhandarya region on February 26, 2026, "Uzbekhydroenergo" JSC is carrying out consistent work aimed at studying the hydropower potential of the regions.
In this regard, a group of specialists led by the Chairman of the Management Board of the Company, Islom Abdurakhmonov, by helicopter, studied the hydropower potential of the Yukhari Topolang zone, located in the mountainous area of Sariosiyo district at an altitude of almost 3,000 meters above sea level.
The main goal is to efficiently use every drop of water, increase electricity generation capacities, and maximize efforts in the interests of the population to increase the volume of renewable energy sources.
During the 3-day practical visit, the natural and relief conditions of the area, water flows, hydrological characteristics, and existing infrastructure opportunities were thoroughly studied. Specialists comprehensively analyzed the hydropower potential of this area, the opportunities for building new hydroelectric power stations, and the necessary conditions for implementing promising projects.
Initial analyses show that there is an opportunity to implement a number of promising hydropower projects in the Yukhari Topolang zone. By gradually implementing these projects, it is planned to expand the scope of using renewable energy sources in our country, increase the volume of ecologically clean electricity production, and give an additional impetus to the socio-economic development of Surkhandarya region.
In order to efficiently use the hydro-potential of the Yukhari Topolang River, practical work is underway within the framework of the next "national project" – the project of the Kishtut HPP cascade consisting of 3 hydroelectric power stations with a total capacity of 80 MW.
In particular, in order to develop the energy infrastructure in the foothill and mountainous areas of Surkhandarya region, a project is being implemented to construct a 110/220 kV double-circuit overhead power transmission line with a total length of 17.791 kilometers from the Zarchob substation to the Kishtut HPP dam site.
Topographical work is being carried out by specialists to implement promising projects on the Yukhari Topolang River.
Taking into account the increase in the water volume of the Mizot River, necessary instructions were given to those responsible to accelerate the construction of the road leading to promising projects and to organize drilling and blasting operations safely and with high quality.
