Unfinished road in Karmana: Is the khokim indifferent to citizens' appeals?

Effect.uz editorial office received an appeal regarding road repairs from the Karmana district of Navoi region.

In the appeal, residents of the "Ayronchi" mahalla expressed dissatisfaction that the asphalt paving of the mahalla street has not been completed for a year, with only a small amount of asphalt being laid each time and the work left unfinished.

Editorial representatives also planned to meet with the district khokim to cover the problem objectively and determine whether the khokim was aware of this appeal.

However, unfortunately, despite keeping the residents and media representatives waiting for nearly two hours, the district khokim did not show up for the meeting. Notably, the administration staff repeatedly informed the journalists that "the khokim will arrive soon." But the anticipated meeting did not take place during the two-hour wait.

After that, the editorial staff went to the "Ayronchi" mahalla and saw with their own eyes the situation causing public complaints.

According to the mahalla residents, the road repairs have not been fully completed for a year. Builders come, lay asphalt on a small section of the street, and leave the rest unrepaired. Residents also state that the quality of the laid asphalt does not meet requirements.

The problem is not only the unfinished road. Residents are worried about the approaching winter season and precipitation. According to them, the heavy dust on the street makes it difficult for children to go to school and return. It was also reported that some children are experiencing allergy-related issues.

Once precipitation begins, the current dusty road will turn into mud, which may cause even more difficulties, especially for school students.

"If the khokim does not help us, who else can we turn to?" — the residents expressed their protests and concerns.

According to the appellants, they have appealed to the relevant authorities about this problem several times, but there has been no noticeable change so far.

Effect.uz editorial office awaits an official comment from the Karmana district administration regarding this situation. It also requests clarification on why the road repairs were not completed on time, the quality of the asphalt, and what measures are being taken regarding residents' appeals.
