38-year-old I.J., who worked as a department head at the National Committee for Ecology and Climate Change, introduced himself as “I am Komil from the Administration” and called the governor of Surkhandarya region, Ulugbek Kosimov.
He asked for practical assistance in obtaining permission for an Afghan businessman to build a multi-story residential building in place of the “Diplomat” restaurant in the city of Termez.
In court, I.J. admitted that he introduced himself as “Komil,” but did not fully plead guilty. The Chilanzar District Court for Criminal Cases found I.J. guilty of committing the crimes provided for in Article 165, Part 1 and Article 219, Part 2 of the Criminal Code.
According to the court verdict, he was sentenced to 3 years and 1 month of imprisonment. It was determined that he would serve his sentence in a colony-settlement.
