The case of a farmer who invested 5 billion soums is currently in court. Why did a farm previously recognized as a model run into trouble?

A farm operating in the Goshkopir district was summoned to a court hearing based on a claim filed by the local administration (hokimiyat). The main dispute revolves around a credit debt of 301 million soums obtained from Agrobank and an issue regarding a structure on 102 square meters of land. The court hearing is scheduled for April 3.

During the peak agricultural season, the farmer is in the courtroom rather than the field. The Urgench inter-district court held another hearing regarding the lawsuit filed by the hokimiyat against the farm in the Goshkopir district.

During the court session, the arguments presented in the lawsuit were discussed, and counter-evidence was submitted. The farm, previously praised as a model, had been allocated preferential cotton harvesting equipment, invested nearly 5 billion soums, and updated its machinery. Therefore, the drastic change in the situation is noteworthy.

One of the main disputed issues is the farm's credit debt of 301 million soums from Agrobank. Although under normal circumstances the bank could apply directly to the court, the legal process is currently ongoing based on the hokimiyat's application. This raises questions about the connection between the bank and the local administration.

Another issue—according to the Cadastre Agency, there is an illegal structure on 102 square meters of land within the farm's territory. The structure is part of a cattle shed wall that existed before 2010 and extends beyond the boundary indicated in the cadastre documents. The fact that no measures were taken regarding this matter until now raises further questions.

Another additional argument brought forward by the hokimiyat representative in court was a fire that occurred in the area adjacent to the farm, which caused damage to trees. However, ecological control and measures regarding such incidents fall under the jurisdiction of the relevant responsible authorities.

Overall, the presented arguments are directed against the farmer, and such reasons are being cited as grounds for terminating the land lease. At the same time, some of the arguments do not directly fall under the authority of the hokimiyat.

The next court hearing is scheduled for April 3. Other farmers and entrepreneurs in the Goshkopir district are also closely monitoring this situation.
