Strong interagency cooperation established among law enforcement agencies under the coordination of the Agency for Control over Narcotics and Firearms under the Presidential Administration is yielding results in preventing, detecting, and promptly eliminating violations of the law in this field.
In particular, as a result of joint operational measures carried out by law enforcement agencies since the beginning of this year, over 7.5 thousand violations of legislation regarding the circulation of weapons have been detected, 598 illegal weapons and nearly 3.2 thousand ammunition items have been confiscated.
264 criminal cases have been initiated regarding these incidents. According to a regional breakdown, the highest number of cases was recorded in the Republic of Karakalpakstan with 44, and Fergana Region with 39. The lowest numbers fall to Jizzakh and Khorezm regions with 5 cases each.
Currently, more than 48 thousand citizens in Uzbekistan have permits to store and use hunting weapons. Their hunting activities are also under the constant supervision of state agencies.
In particular, anti-poaching raids are regularly conducted. Over the elapsed period of this year, nearly 2 thousand raid events were organized, and 575 violations were detected. 55 cases of illegal hunting of wildlife objects were directly identified. The highest number of cases falls to Kashkadarya and Khorezm regions with 12 each. A total of 4.3 billion soums of damage was caused to nature due to poaching activities, with nearly half of this amount falling to Kashkadarya and Tashkent regions.
As a result of extensive awareness-raising campaigns, citizens voluntarily surrendered 433 weapons and over 3 thousand ammunition items. This, in turn, indicates the growing legal awareness and responsibility of the population.
These figures once again confirm the consistency and effectiveness of the work being carried out to strengthen state control over the circulation of weapons, ensure public safety, and eliminate illegal trafficking in our country.
