A regular “Mayor’s hour” meeting was held under the chairmanship of Tashkent Region Governor Zoyir Mirzayev. During the meeting, work on increasing population incomes, reducing poverty, and ensuring youth employment was discussed in a critical and analytical spirit.

It was noted at the meeting that within the framework of implementing the tasks given at the video-selector meetings of the Head of State on September 3 and 9, an “Emergency regime” has been introduced in the region.

Currently, 584 thousand out of 717 thousand households in the region, or 81 percent, have been surveyed. The surveys study the families' sources of income, employment status, and available opportunities.

Regional-level executives have been assigned to 92 mahallas with high poverty levels. To date, practical work has started in 71 mahallas, which is 77 percent. However, it was noted that the implementation of designated tasks in 21 mahallas has not been properly established.

Officials were instructed to work individually with each household, provide the population with permanent sources of income, and strengthen result-oriented measures to lift them out of poverty.

The issue of youth employment was also reviewed at the meeting. Out of 77,372 graduates who completed educational institutions this year, 72.5 thousand have been provided with employment. However, the employment issue for 4.8 thousand young people remains pressing.

Officials were tasked with working individually with each of these young people, directing them to jobs matching their knowledge and skills, and strengthening targeted measures to involve them in entrepreneurship and vocational training.

It was emphasized at the meeting that the main criterion should not be the number of tasks performed, but their concrete results in the lives of the population.

Specific tasks and deadlines were set for responsible officials regarding the issues on the agenda. The execution of the assignments has been taken under control.
