According to the State Security Service (SSS) press service, a 26-year-old resident of the city of Bukhara joined the ranks of the "Katibat al-Tawhid wal-Jihad" international terrorist organization in Syria in 2019.
Along with taking part in militant operations, he assisted in improving the financial support of the terrorist organization by raising funds from others via social networks under various pretexts.
Between 2021 and 2025, this individual communicated with citizens of Uzbekistan via the internet, urging them to send funds in the form of cryptocurrency, successfully collecting a large sum of money.
Currently, criminal cases have been initiated under Article 155³ of the Criminal Code (financing terrorism) against 8 individuals who fell for his deceptions and sent money, and investigative actions are underway.
Furthermore, he also involved his 60-year-old father in his nefarious activities.
In particular, between 2022 and 2025, the father transferred a total of 13,597 USDT in cryptocurrency through the "BINANCE" international crypto exchange.
It is noted that the father was previously arrested by law enforcement agencies in 2019 for distributing materials imbued with ideas of religious extremism and fanaticism, and was sentenced to 5 years of imprisonment under Article 244¹ of the Criminal Code. He was later released on parole by a decision of the Bukhara City Court.
However, failing to appreciate the leniency shown to him by the state, he resumed his former activities. As a result of operational-search activities conducted by the SSS, his actions were halted, and a criminal case was opened.
By the verdict of the Bukhara City Court, the man was found guilty of committing crimes under Article 155³, Part 2, Clause "a" and Article 278⁸, Part 2, Clause "a" of the Criminal Code and was sentenced to 10 years and 2 months of imprisonment.
Meanwhile, his son, born in 1999, has been placed on a wanted list for committing crimes under Articles 244¹, 244², 155², and 155³ of the Criminal Code.
