A clerk at the Tashkent Regional Prosecutor's Office demanded 9,000 US dollars from an individual entrepreneur in the Urtachirchik district in exchange for resolving a 276 million soum fine imposed for illegal electricity usage at their retail store, promising to use his influential connections to ensure no further action was taken.
Since the clerk is currently studying at a prestigious university in Namangan city, he requested that the money be delivered to that location.
During an operational event conducted by State Security Service officers, he was caught red-handed while receiving the 9,000 dollars in the Namangan region.
In connection with the incident, the Namangan Regional Prosecutor's Office has initiated a criminal case against this individual and others under Article 25, 168 (fraud), part 3, clause "v" and Article 28, 211 (bribery), part 1 of the Criminal Code, and a "detention" preventive measure has been applied to the clerk.
