Organized with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan, this major conference was attended by over 200 diplomats, government officials, museum directors, archaeologists, art critics, and representatives of the expert communities of both countries. Participants of the event were shown a documentary telling about the unique concept, main expositions, and international mission of the Center of Islamic Civilization, established in Tashkent on the initiative of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
The meeting focused on the study and popularization of centuries-old ties formed along the Great Silk Road. The parties presented promising plans for organizing joint museum exhibitions, archaeological expeditions, implementing scientific and publishing projects, and creating multimedia expositions.
Speaking at the event, the Ambassador of Uzbekistan to the PRC Farhod Arziyev and SCO Deputy Secretary General Sun Honghui specially emphasized that thanks to the close and friendly relations between the heads of state, bilateral ties have risen to an unprecedented level, and cultural diplomacy and humanitarian partnership are imparting new practical content to these relations.
Following the results of the visit of the delegation of the Center of Islamic Civilization to China, memoranda of cooperation were signed with the Hong Kong Palace Museum, the National Museum of China, the Chinese Archaeology Museum, the Palace Museum (Forbidden City), and the Shaanxi History Museum. One of the most important outcomes of the visit was the discovery of unique exhibits related to Sogdian culture and valuable artifacts related to the history of Uzbekistan in Chinese museums and private collections.
An agreement was also reached to implement a new program of projects on the occasion of the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. This program provides for the preparation of a scientific album dedicated to the cultural heritage of Uzbekistan stored in Chinese collections and the organization of reciprocal exhibitions.
Within the framework of the event, two permanent expositions were founded at the embassy: the "New Uzbekistan" photo exhibition dedicated to the country's modern development, and an exhibition of scientific publications and book-albums of the World Society for the Study, Preservation, and Promotion of the Cultural Heritage of Uzbekistan (WOSCU).
