The Kashkadarya Regional Department of Ecology and Climate Change filed a lawsuit with the Karshi Interdistrict Economic Court, demanding the recovery of 8.8 billion soums in compensation from the Shurtan Oil and Gas Production Department, which is part of JSC Uzbekneftegaz.

During the court proceedings, the rights and legal interests of JSC Uzbekneftegaz were defended by the Business Ombudsman.

The court hearing examined the fact that the regulatory body had exceeded the scope of its inspection, and that the calculations for the main part of the claim were not supported by sufficient evidence. The court also took into account that evidence obtained in violation of the law is inadmissible.

The arguments presented by the Business Ombudsman regarding the legality of the inspection and the validity of the compensation calculations were reviewed during the court proceedings.

As a result, the court rejected the main part of the 8.8 billion soum claim. According to the final ruling, it was determined that only 676,133 soums in compensation would be recovered from Uzbekneftegaz.
