The film “Echo of Enlightenment” by the Center of Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan won the “Gold Award” in Spain

At this prestigious event featuring audiovisual projects from over 40 countries worldwide, the film highlighting Uzbekistan’s rich cultural and scientific heritage was deemed worthy of the highest recognition. The Center of Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan is a mega-project conceived by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, aimed at studying, preserving, and showcasing the scientific, spiritual, and cultural heritage of Islamic civilization to the world.

The “Gold Award” at the Terres Festival continued the successful international journey of the film “Echo of Enlightenment.” The film became a finalist at the New York Festivals and the Cannes Corporate Media & TV Awards in 2026, and was also recognized at SILKFEST 26 in Belgrade. Because the Terres Festival is an official member of the International Committee of Tourism Film Festivals (CIFFT), this victory also secures the project a place in the CIFFT Ranking – World’s Best Tourism Films.

A special place in the film is occupied by the participation of legendary actor and Oscar winner Ben Kingsley, known for his role in “Gandhi.” Well-known to global audiences through his portrayal of Avicenna in the historical drama “The Physician,” the actor addresses the prominent scholars and thinkers of Uzbekistan in “Echo of Enlightenment.” Narrating the Islamic civilization that made a significant contribution to the development of science, education, and culture, he presents Uzbekistan not just as a tourist destination, but as a land of great discoveries where history and enlightenment intersect.

This triumph further enriches the Center's array of international recognitions. In 2026, the Center was entered into the Guinness Book of Records as the “Largest Museum of Islamic Civilization” and recognized by TURKSOY as the “Best Museum of the Turkic World.” Additionally, it was awarded the International Avicenna Prize in 2025 and the title of “Islamic Heritage Object of the Year” at the World Halal Tourism Summit in Singapore.
