During the exchange trading held on March 10, the price of AI-92 gasoline increased by 7.4 percent. This was reported by the Republican Commodity Exchange.

According to the reports, the price of one ton of gasoline increased by 878.9 thousand soums, reaching 12 million 723 thousand soums. Based on calculations, this amounts to approximately 9.5 thousand soums per liter of fuel.

At the beginning of the year, the price of AI-92 gasoline was even higher, recorded at 12 million 752 thousand soums (per ton). In the trading on March 6, the price had dropped to 11 million 844 thousand soums.

Experts also attribute the changes in fuel prices to the situation in the global energy market. Due to the closure of the Strait of Hormuz amid the war between the US, Israel, and Iran, the price of Brent crude oil rose by 20 percent on March 9, reaching $111.04 per barrel. Such a sharp increase is being observed for the first time since 2022.

This process was expected to impact the market of Uzbekistan, a participant in the global economy. Despite the country extracting oil and producing gasoline, a portion of the fuel is imported.

For example, in 2025, Uzbekistan imported $2 billion worth of oil and petroleum products from abroad, of which $1.55 billion accounted for gasoline. This indicator showed growth of 2.2 percent in oil imports and 5.8 percent in gasoline imports.

In January of this year, $205.4 million worth of oil and petroleum products were brought into the country. Of this, $170 million accounted for automotive gasoline. As a result, oil imports increased by 43.2 percent and gasoline imports by 44.8 percent compared to the same period last year.

At the same time, due to gas supply issues in some regions during the winter season, the operations of certain automobile gas filling compressor stations were temporarily suspended. The Ministry of Energy has cited the drop in gas pressure due to cold weather as the reason for this.
