A 53-year-old teacher in the Namangan region has been arrested on suspicion of sexual violence against a 6th-grade student.

According to reports, on March 28, 2026, a resident of Yangikurgan district, H.D., appealed to the district Internal Affairs Department, stating that her minor child O.O. (a girl born in 2013), who studies in the 6th grade of a comprehensive school in the district, was subjected to sexual violence by T.Sh (a male born in 1973), a teacher at the same school.

In connection with this incident, the Investigation Department of the Yangikurgan District Internal Affairs Department initiated a criminal case under Part 4 of Article 119 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The suspect T.Sh was detained in accordance with procedural rules, and a preventive measure in the form of custody was applied against him. Preliminary investigative actions are currently underway.

“Within its authority, the Child Ombudsman continues to monitor the proceedings of the criminal case committed against the child and the ensuring of the procedural rights of the victim child,” the report states.
