Before the opening of the conference, distinguished guests — the Minister of Endowments and Religious Affairs of the Sultanate of Oman, Dr. Mohammed bin Said bin Khalfan Al Maamari, the Secretary-General of the Sultan Qaboos Higher Center for Culture and Science, Habib bin Mohammed Al Riyami, member of the State Council, Dr. Mohammed Said Amur Al Hajri, and other figures of enlightenment and creativity, familiarized themselves with an exhibition prepared by the Center. The exposition featured over 150 book publications, miniatures, and sculpture samples reflecting Uzbekistan's rich historical, scientific, and artistic heritage. The Center's publishing projects and activities in studying the heritage of Movarounnahr aroused great interest among the participants.
The forum, organized in cooperation with the Center for Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Oman, was attended by nearly 250 participants, including senators, diplomats, state and cultural figures, and leading scholars. The conference was opened with welcoming remarks by the Center's Director Firdavs Abdukhalikov, Ambassador Abdusalom Khatamov, and Habib bin Mohammed Al Riyami, and a video presentation dedicated to the Center's scientific and educational projects was shown.
In the scientific session, scholars from both countries discussed in detail the contributions of Movarounnahr and Oman to the development of Islamic civilization. While Dr. Saif bin Salim bin Saif Al Hadi spoke about the experience of peaceful coexistence in Omani society, Vice-President of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan Bakhrom Abdukhalimov highlighted the prospects for preserving and digitizing manuscript heritage. Rector of the Tashkent Islamic Institute Uygun Gafurov touched upon the history of Islamic education in Uzbekistan, and TSUOS professor Shorustam Shomansurov discussed opportunities for bilateral cooperation in the field of higher education.
As a practical result of the symposium, the Center for Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan signed memoranda of cooperation with the Sultan Qaboos Higher Center for Culture and Science and the Bait Al Zubair Museum. Within the framework of the event, foreign partners were presented with a facsimile edition of the Katta Langar Quran, the book "Foundation of the Third Renaissance," and 120 publication certificates. The delegation members also visited the National Museum of Oman, where they exchanged experience in the fields of museology and the preservation of cultural heritage.
